When I first met Jon, it was about 24 hours before our first concert with me as the new guy. I remember that we started jamming and I played a little melodic idea and Jon immediately fired it back at me.
“Wow, this guy has amazing ears and was actually listening to what I just played”
I threw another idea out, and it came back from Jon, without hesitation, as an improved version. With a matter a minutes we were both smiling.
He always sounded like somebody who would be the narrator for an important movie, when he spoke. I later found out that was no accident, that he had some training in acting, I believe. I loved to hear him speak, because he had the magic of a quick wit, and the most clever way of turning things around.
He (Steve’s son) was about 4 or 5 years old, and just so glad to be around all of this excitement. He walked up to Jon while Jon was talking to some of the many folks that he knew from this show near his home town.
Jon look down at this little bright eyed kid wearing a cowboy hat, and immediately engaged him in (a? to? ํ์ง๊ตฌ์ง๋ผ ์ ์๋ณด์) game. He moved his hand in his coat pocket at the same time he made the sound of Donald Duck… and convinced my boy that there was a duck trapped inside his coat. Kevin was laughing and happy to be acknowledged by such a fun adult, and went on his way walking around the room. He always remembered Jon as the ‘man that had that duck in his coat’
